The month of August officially starts the monsoon season in the Philippines. But no amount of rain and strong winds could discourage Outsourcing Angel and our partner charity organisation, Tribu ni Bro, from carrying out our mission of providing nutritional aid to underprivileged families in remote provinces.
On August 19, our team began the three-day feeding program for the benefit of the Agta and Dumagat tribes in the towns of Dinalungan and Casiguran in Aurora province. We are grateful for the able-bodied staff of the Philippine Army for helping us reach out to our beneficiaries.
Our crew began the journey with a seven-hour bus ride from Quezon City to Baler, Aurora. Upon reaching Baler, we rode a van for two hours going to the Army Base in Dinalungan. Thankfully, the occasional rain did not cause any delay in travel time, and our team was able to reach Sitio Uno in Brgy. Simbahan where the first program was scheduled to be held.
In the morning of August 20, our group headed on to Brgy. Calabagan in Casiguran, Aurora, and in the afternoon, we trekked a few distances going to Sitio Paraiso in Brgy. Kulat.
On August 21, we traveled back to Dinalungan to our last activity for the residents of Sitio Proper in Brgy. Simbahan.
We are happy to have fed about 200 children and 75 adults for our program. Our team also distributed gifts to the families, which consisted of used clothes, biscuits and toys for the children. Aside from the feeding program, we also conducted a story-telling activity and hosted a few fun games to entertain the children.
According to the Agta and Dumagat tribes, their families would greatly benefit from livelihood programs, such as fishing and farming, which would help sustain the daily needs of their families.
Our team is committed to reaching out to impoverished tribal communities in the Philippines to sustain their nutritional needs and help reduce the devastating effects of malnutrition among children in the tribes.
