Every month, Outsourcing Angel partners with charity groups to carry out our mission of giving hope to children and families in different underprivileged communities in the Philippines by giving them nourishment and other basic necessities.

On August 5, our team set out for a seven-hour journey going to Sitio Dapis in the province of Montalban, Rizal. Together with Tribu ni Bro, our group boarded a passenger van going to San Rafael, Montalban and traveled for over an hour. From there, they rode a motorcycle—which is called “habal-habal” in Filipino slang—going to Sitio Mabolo in Brgy. Puray. The only way to get to the Tribal Hall in Sitio Quinao is by foot. Due to the heavy rains, it took our team six hours to get to the location. According to the locals, travel time between Sitio Mabolo and Sitio Quinao would typically take them three hours even during good weather.

The heavy rains caused the nearby river to overflow, which made it difficult for Bimboy and the rest of the TnB and OA team to reach where the program is supposed to be held. So our team decided to set up the activity at the Tribal Hall instead, where the residents of Sitio Dapis can come and receive the hearty meals we prepared.

More than 100 children and some adults from Sitio Dapis attended the program. The community is relatively far from commercial areas in the province, which is why the people of Sitio Dapis said that they benefit greatly from livelihood programs. Farming and other such livelihood opportunities can provide the families with a sustainable source of food as well as help the parents earn income to support the needs of their children.

It is in communities like these where we feel the obligation and great privilege to share our blessings and provide nourishing meals to children in need. Food is one of life’s most basic necessities, and yet so many don’t have access to the most essential meals like rice and meat. Through programs like these, we are hoping to serve more meals to hundreds and thousands of children in remote communities to help them fight malnutrition and live a healthy life.
