Part 4 – Accepting Challenges and Setting Your Own
Challenges are things that some people love and other people dread. Becoming the type of person that embraces challenges will be what sets you above the rest. Working as a VA doesn’t come with a perfectly arranged path where you can learn and level up as though you were in high school. To grow and improve, everything will come down to ‘challenges’.
I don’t believe in saying “no” to a challenge. I believe in sharing the same mindset as your client about their own company. People have told me that it’s a bad thing to be a “yes girl” that takes on every task sent my way, but I have always seen it as the best opportunity to push myself. There have been tough, frustrating, and trying times, but it was going through those experiences that have developed me into the top-class VA I am today. I’ve also maintained an appreciative attitude – being part of the team and selected as the person responsible is an honour in itself!
Working hard through challenges that are thrown your way will be supported by the attitude you have, so hold onto feelings of appreciation, feel validated, valued and that you matter. Welcome every challenge thrown your way. Don’t see quitting as an option, instead, always take the opportunity to learn and grow.
Another important thing to remember is – NEVER get comfortable doing just one thing. Of course, find your specialties and niches, but don’t limit yourself to doing just one thing all day. If you don’t have other tasks, find a way to create ones on your own, ones that you think will help bring value to the business or client. This is reaching the stage of setting challenges for yourself.
When you learn how to push yourself forward, work hard, and produce results, you’ll be surprised just how far you can go and how much of a difference you’ll make to the people around you.I encourage every VA I meet to push on and explore their potentials because taking on, setting, and conquering challenges will guarantee that you become an invaluable part of any team.
