Part 6 – Mentoring Others

An important thing that a lot of people underestimate is the idea of mentoring others. You may be familiar with it when you’re working in a traditional, physical office where you see your seniors mentoring their juniors, but it is just as important in your virtual office as a Virtual Assistant. As you build yourself and climb up the career ladder of the VA world, welcome the opportunities to mentor.

If you were fortunate enough to be in an environment with many VAs working together, you must have been mentored by your co-VAs. Even if you started off on your own, your clients would have mentored you on the job. Just as they helped you out, I strongly encourage you to pass this knowledge on to other VAs. Your work will be much more fulfilling when you teach others how to work and how to manage work more effectively.

We’re often paid hourly and I understand you may be counting how much time you put into mentoring others while you have a million other things to do. But you see, sharing your knowledge will not only benefit those VAs that are learning from you, but it will also allow you to get fresh and new insights into how to work well with other people, other VAs, and other clients who aim to make a difference in this world.
